Mitchell’s Plain Skills Centre

Mitchell’s Plain Skills Centre

Under the auspices of the Mitchell’s Plain Education Forum the Mitchell’s

Plain Skills Centre was established in Westridge Shopping Centre with the generous support of both the MERSETA and Chemical SETA.

The purpose of the skills centre is to bring technical and business skills training to residents of Mitchell’s Plain and surrounding areas, including Khayelitsha. However employers, employees and private learners from all over the Western Cape are encouraged to train here.

Programmes and short courses in skills such as furniture making, cabinet making, computer training, bookkeeping and accounting are on offer. Hundreds of young people have also been trained in entrepreneurship and taught important life skills.

The majority of these learners have now either found work or have themselves established small enterprises.
