Carla Lindt
I am 18 years old and was raised in Beacon Valley, Mitchell’s Plain by my aunt and uncle. My hobbies are reading, baking, swimming, playing chess, and playing computer games. I attended Mondale High School and matriculated in 2014.
I am currently a first–year student at the University of the Western Cape and am studying a Bachelor of Arts. The reason I chose this course is because I would like to become an educator as well as a psychologist. My friends inspired me because they always speak to me about their problems, and I see myself doing this as a profession. As far as teaching is concerned, I would like to be one of many who gets to work for the Western Cape Education Department and makes a difference in schools.
The MPBRMT assisted me by paying part of my tuition fees. This means a great deal to me, because not everybody is as fortunate as I am to receive this. People out there work hard and still do not get the opportunity that I have received. I am therefore grateful. This is making a huge difference in my life by helping me obtain my goal and make something of myself despite my circumstances. It motivates me to do better, because there are people who care and who believe that I can do it.
I aim to pay it forward in the future by doing the same for other children in my community, to guide them and help them grow and achieve their goals too.
