The Mitchells Plain Bursary and role model trust is a South African registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) in terms of both section 30 and 18A of the Income Tax Act. A PBO which is recognised under section 18A is entitled to issue receipts to South African donors under section 18A(2). Armed with those receipts, the donors can treat their donations to the PBO as tax-deductible expenses (thereby effectively only paying sixty (60) percent of the face value of the donation).

Mogamat Ashraf Williams

My name is Mogamat Ashraf Williams and I am a final-year Bachelor of Accounting student at Stellenbosch University and an aspiring chartered accountant. My passion for accounting came from the excitement of working with numbers, along with the teaching of my high school teacher, Mrs Williams. I matriculated at Westridge High School in 2014 with a distinction in Accounting, which boosted my confidence to tackle this challenging field. I was blessed with complete support from my family to pursue my dream, but was held back by financial constraints. However, the Mitchell’s Plain Bursary and Role Model Trust (MPBRMT) was there. Not only has the Trust helped me take the first step to achieve my goal, it has granted me another family and built my support structure. I now tutor prospective students who share the same passion for accounting and I am a step closer to entering the corporate world, which would not have been possible without the belief the MPBRMT has in me. My family and I are eternally grateful. Thank You.
