The Mitchells Plain Bursary and role model trust is a South African registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) in terms of both section 30 and 18A of the Income Tax Act. A PBO which is recognised under section 18A is entitled to issue receipts to South African donors under section 18A(2). Armed with those receipts, the donors can treat their donations to the PBO as tax-deductible expenses (thereby effectively only paying sixty (60) percent of the face value of the donation).

Nasierah Abrahams

My name is Nasierah Abrahams and I am from Tafelsig, Mitchell’s Plain. I attended Glendale Secondary School in Rocklands, and matriculated in 2017. I am studying Human Resource Management as first year student at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), Cape Town campus. The bursary from the Trust helps me to pay my fees. The Trust is very unique from other bursaries because we spend together and always catch up and engage in activities. The Trust encourages me to motivate and inspire students to apply for the bursary. My plan for the future is to finish my studies, obtain my degree not only to acquire a qualification, but to make my parents proud and to prove that you do not need money to succeed, but you need determination.
