Chandré Appollis
My name is Chandré Appollis and I attended Oval North Secondary in Mitchell’s Plain. I matriculated in 2014 with a Bachelor’s pass. I am currently studying BSc (Honours) Applied Geology at the University of Western Cape (UWC). I graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Geology. I would like to become a geophysicist (study of the physical processes and physical properties of the Earth). I have been with the Mitchell’s Plain Bursary and Role Model Trust since 2015. Before I got accepted to university there was always a worry whether my parents would be able to afford the tuition fees. My four years as a bursary recipient has been a blessing – it has helped me and my parents tremendously. The bursary also empowers me to encourage more youngsters in Mitchell’s Plain to go and study, and make them aware of the bursary. Even though we come from an impoverished community, it does not define where we are heading. Hopefully one day I will be able to contribute and show my appreciation to the Trust. Keep up the good work!
