I am 19 years of age and I live in Mitchell’s Plain. I’m a very hardworking person and I strive for success. I’m interested in various things, such as music, books, technology and sports. I come from a poor community called Tafelsig, where it is very rough. I see many people do wrong things and get involved with gangs, drugs, etc. I want to be a person that youngsters can look up to. That is why I will make a success of my studies.
I attended Glendale High School and I matriculated in 2014. I am currently studying at Cape Peninsula University of Technology. The course I am doing is BEd: FET Specialisation. I always wanted to become a teacher – to be a good role–model for others and to make a positive change in my community.
The MPBRMT assisted me very well financially. I was very lucky to be chosen to receive a bursary. It meant so much to me and my family because we aren’t very rich and I am the first in the family to have the opportunity to study further at a university. Receiving this bursary will make a huge difference in my life. I will always be grateful for it, and in my own way, I will one day give back to my community.
I strongly believe that many more learners should be given the opportunity to be able to study further, and with that I mean they should be supported. financially.
