Cindy-Lee Jennevive Pienaar
I am 18 years of age, a passionate learner, and I have a passion to do ministry work and outreaches in my free time as a way to give back to my Creator. I am a firm believer in God so as my hobbies I spent time participating in youth outreaches and praise and worship.
I am the youngest of three children raised by both my parents in Mitchell’s Plain. Our circumstances were difficult as I was growing up, but my parents always pushed us to reach success through hard work and dedication, as they worked hard to provide us with all they could. At the age of 9 we lost our home, and I attended five different schools over my schooling career, having to change my home languages multiple times due to finances and constant moving. These difficulties never brought me down – they moulded and inspired me to work hard and do something with my life through hard work and following my passion, trusting in God and using the gifts entrusted to me as an individual.
I attended Beacon Hill Secondary School and it is through my Principal that I found out about MPBRMT, which supported me to gain further education. I am studying LLB Law at the University of the Western Cape. I am a first-year student and matriculated last year. I was inspired by Mrs Sibozo at our school to study law, to enable me to equip myself to make a difference in people’s lives who have been wrongfully treated and had their rights violated through the lack of knowledge. Many people lose homes through unlawful people – and as I mentioned, at the age of 9 my family and I lost our home. This inspired me to become educated and an independent young woman that can help other underprivileged families.
Inspiring young people to become educated and follow their passion holding on to their creator and remaining humble will enable and grant them the wisdom to succeed and be successful. Passionately serving and giving back legal advice to the community is one of my desires. Education is about sharing it with everyone – that is what I call success.
The MPBRMT assisted me in funding my further education as well as personal needs to allow me to get to the university every day fully nourished and equipped to be successful. The MPBRMT and my Trustee Lyrice Trussell really opened doors to further education, and I can really just show gratitude towards them and thank almighty God for their roles in my life. Receiving this aid means the word to me. I just have so much gratitude towards every individual that opened this door, and my family and I have so much gratitude and thanksgiving towards MPBRMT.
I hope that more young people will experience this relief and blessing in their life. Money will never be able to repay these individuals who invested in my dream and further education. Working hard and reaching my dreams will be a thank you to MPBRMT that their contribution and investment in my life was not in vain.
My brother and sister were forced to stay at home this year due to the lack of finances, and it is only through the grace of God that I was granted this opportunity, for which I will be forever grateful.
