Cindy Walters
My name is Cindy Walters and I am a third-year Education student at the University of the Western Cape (UWC). I live in Bayview and I attended Strandfontein High School where I matriculated in 2015. Despite the challenges that I endured through high school, I was always motivated to study at a tertiary institution and I applied for funding at different places but lost hope because no one responded. However, after attending university for three months, I was contacted by the Mitchell’s Plain Bursary and Role Model Trust, delivering good news that I have been selected for a bursary. I cannot describe the excitement that I’ve experienced. The MPBRMT changed my entire perspective, it gave me hope that I could study peacefully without having to worry outstanding fees that needed to be paid. This opportunity given by the Trust opened a major door for me and I will be forever grateful as this was one of the best opportunities that anyone could’ve ever given me. “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Mandela
