The Mitchells Plain Bursary and role model trust is a South African registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) in terms of both section 30 and 18A of the Income Tax Act. A PBO which is recognised under section 18A is entitled to issue receipts to South African donors under section 18A(2). Armed with those receipts, the donors can treat their donations to the PBO as tax-deductible expenses (thereby effectively only paying sixty (60) percent of the face value of the donation).

My name is Randy Meyer. I live in Strandfontein, and I attended Strandfontein High School. I am studying Bcom Honours in Management, at the University of the Western Cape (UWC). The Mitchell’s Plain Bursary and Role Model Trust has been my beacon of light. Their support has motivated me to work even harder and pursue my dreams. Knowing there are people that took the time to get to know us, and took an interest in my well-being is one of the most amazing experiences. I can study without financial stress, which was always a factor in my life. I have been with the Trust since first-year. In the future, I plan on working in the corporate sector. As I am doing a Bcom Honours in Management, my specialized field is broad, which is amazing, as I feel I will have more room for growth.
